Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for patients in the Neuro Stepdown unit
• Perform frequent neuro assessments and monitor telemetry and vital signs closely
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to orders
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team on care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the chart
• Escalate changes in patient condition promptly and participate in critical decision-making

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Experience in Neuro Stepdown, SDU, or progressive care settings preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills, especially neurological assessments
• Comfortable working with telemetry and common neuro monitoring equipment
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in neurological assessment techniques and recognizing subtle changes
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Safe medication administration and IV therapy
• Critical thinking and prioritization in a fast-paced acute care environment
• Proficient charting and documentation practices; ability to navigate EMR systems
• Teamwork, patient advocacy, and bedside manner that eases patient stress
