Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced critical care to adult and geriatric neuro/ICU patients, including ventilator management and neurological monitoring
• Assess and manage patients with external ventricular drains (EVD) and ICP monitoring, intervening quickly and safely
• Administer and titrate IV vasopressors and manage complex IV therapies and central lines
• Perform cardiac monitoring and recognize/treat dysrhythmias on telemetry
• Administer and monitor blood product transfusions following facility protocols
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Document care accurately in the electronic charting system and participate in handoffs and unit communication
• Educate patients and families about care plans, procedures, and post-acute expectations

Qualifications

• Current RN license (Ohio or compact RN) required
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• CCRN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of critical care or ICU bedside experience (neuro/telemetry experience strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated experience with ventilator care, EVD/ICP monitoring, telemetry, IV vasopressors, blood product administration, and central line management
• Familiarity with any electronic charting system required
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Willingness to work night shifts and meet weekend requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
• Telemetry and advanced cardiac monitoring skills
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care and blood product administration
• IV vasopressor management and titration
• Neurological monitoring including EVD and ICP management
• RASS (Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale) and NIHSS competency
• Comfort with conscious sedation, PCA pumps, and post-epidural care
• Experience in a high-acuity setting, including Level 1 trauma exposure
