Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to med/surgical pediatric patients
• Assess patient status, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document care thoroughly
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and family members to support patient-centered plans
• Monitor and respond to changes in clinical condition, escalating concerns promptly
• Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Promote a safe environment by adhering to infection control and safety protocols

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Missouri) — compact license holders accepted per facility policy
• Med/Surgical experience with pediatric patients; demonstrated pediatric clinical skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; PALS preferred or obtainable
• Current immunizations and health screening per facility requirements
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Ability to pass facility orientation and any competency assessments

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and clinical judgment in pediatric med/surgical care
• Medication administration and IV/infusion management
• Familiarity with pediatric care standards and family-centered practice
• Proficient documentation and time management skills
• Team-oriented approach with effective interdisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to respond calmly in urgent or emergent situations
