Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the med/surg pediatric unit
• Monitor and assess pediatric patients, recognizing changes in condition and acting promptly
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans in a clear, caring way
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses thoroughly and professionally
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the required state, or compact RN acceptable if applicable
• BLS certification required; PALS and/or ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing and pediatric care; prior pediatric med/surg experience is a strong plus
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to triage changes in pediatric patients
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pediatric growth and development and common pediatric conditions
• Proficiency with medication administration, IV therapy, and pediatric dosing considerations
• Ability to use electronic medical records and document accurately
• Strong clinical judgment and time management in a fast-paced med/surg environment
• Patient and family education skills with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds
