Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Monitor patient status and respond to changes in condition promptly
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Document care clearly and comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards
• Support a positive, team-focused unit culture that prioritizes patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact/eligible for Louisiana licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and PALS encouraged or preferred
• Prior medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, communication and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work 12-hour clinical shifts and function effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Proficiency in medication administration and IV therapy
• Skilled in patient assessment, care planning and discharge coordination
• Effective teamwork, time management and patient advocacy skills
