Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate medical-surgical nursing care to adult patients
• Assess, monitor and document patient condition, responding quickly to changes
• Administer medications, treatments and IV therapy safely and accurately
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate electronic health record documentation and follow facility protocols
• Participate in unit-based initiatives to improve patient outcomes and workflow

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to practice in Louisiana required)
• Experience or interest in Medical-Surgical nursing (Med/Surg) preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; advanced certifications encouraged
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration and IV skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a patient-centered approach

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - ADN is commonly acceptable; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Skilled in patient assessment, wound care, and post-operative management
• Comfortable with EHR charting, care coordination and interdisciplinary communication
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Detail-oriented approach to medication safety and documentation
