Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care for a diverse obstetric population
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret heart rate patterns to keep mom and baby safe
• Circulate for C-section procedures and assist the surgical team during operative deliveries
• Deliver neonatal resuscitation and newborn stabilization in the delivery room when needed
• Support breastfeeding and provide lactation assistance and discharge education to new families
• Administer and titrate medications and IV therapies, including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin drips
• Maintain accurate patient documentation in Epic and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Float to other UCSF facilities as needed and maintain flexibility to meet unit staffing needs

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required
• AHA ACLS, BLS, and NRP required; AWHONN Intermediate required (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• Minimum 3 years labor and delivery RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent L&D experience
• Previous travel assignment experience preferred
• Ability to circulate for C-sections and assist with high-acuity obstetric cases
• Willingness to work every other weekend and float to other UCSF facilities
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required per facility guidelines (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Proven ability to chart in Epic

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor and delivery management, including amnioinfusion and hemorrhage response
• Proficient with external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
• Neonatal resuscitation and newborn assessment skills, including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Postpartum care expertise, including breastfeeding support and couplet care
• IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line maintenance knowledge
• Familiarity with epidural anesthesia recovery and pain management techniques
• Comfortable using Epic for charting and interdisciplinary communication
• Ability to triage obstetrical patients and manage high-acuity and complex comorbid cases
