Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret continuous electronic fetal monitoring to support safe labor progress
• Provide hands-on labor and delivery nursing care with one-to-one attention when needed
• Assist in Cesarean sections and serve as OR circulation support when required
• Perform PACU recovery and postpartum assessments to promote optimal outcomes
• Collaborate closely with OB providers, neonatology and anesthesia for coordinated care
• Place and manage fetal scalp electrodes and intrauterine pressure catheters as indicated
• Document thoroughly and accurately in CPN (Centricity) and Meditech EMRs
• Follow obstetric medication and emergency response protocols including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate and antihypertensives

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the United States (state licensure required)
• Labor and Delivery nursing experience with direct patient care
• AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification required
• BLS, ACLS and NRP current certifications required
• Experience assisting in Cesarean sections and OR circulation preferred
• Skilled in placement of FSE and IUPC preferred
• Familiarity with CPN (Centricity) and/or Meditech EMR preferred

Education

• Registered Nurse licensure required; nursing diploma, ADN or BSN acceptable per facility requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in continuous electronic fetal monitoring and fetal assessment
• Comfortable with vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections and PACU recovery
• Knowledge of obstetric medication protocols and emergency responses
• Experience working with Hill-Rom birthing beds, Alaris pumps and NOVI wireless fetal monitoring
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neonatology and laborists
• Proficient documentation and charting in Centricity and Meditech EMRs
