Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status using advanced fetal monitoring and respond quickly to changes
• Provide immediate newborn care and perform neonatal resuscitation when needed
• Assist and support labor and delivery procedures including vaginal births and cesarean sections
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiology, neonatal teams, and support staff to deliver safe, high-quality care
• Maintain accurate patient documentation in Cerner EMR and ensure continuity of care
• Manage high-risk obstetric patients with vigilance and evidence-based interventions
• Operate and troubleshoot unit equipment such as Baxter pumps and Phillips fetal monitors
• Educate and support patients and families through labor, delivery, and postpartum care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Minimum 2+ years of Labor & Delivery experience (required)
• NRP certification (required)
• BLS/ALS certification (required)
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification (required)
• Experience with high-risk obstetrics and immediate newborn care
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Phillips fetal monitoring systems preferred
• Outgoing, friendly, and adaptable team player able to thrive in a fast-paced unit

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in fetal monitoring interpretation and advanced fetal monitoring techniques
• Neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn stabilization (NRP)
• High-risk obstetrics assessment and interventions
• Clinical experience with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, D&C, cerclage, and cesarean hysterectomy support
• Proficient use of Cerner EMR and unit-specific documentation
• Comfortable with Baxter infusion pumps and Phillips electronic fetal monitoring
• Strong communication, patient education, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
• Ability to manage 1:1 and 1:2 patient ratios with clinical confidence
