Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adult ICU patients, managing complex and time-sensitive needs
• Monitor, interpret, and document telemetry and ECG strips with accuracy and clinical judgment
• Titrate IV drips (cardiac drips, insulin, sedation) and manage titratable medications safely
• Troubleshoot respiratory equipment and assist with ventilator/CPAP/BiPAP/high-flow issues as needed
• Document patient care clearly and efficiently in EPIC
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Support patient progression and safe transfers by floating to PCU/MedSurg when required
• Contribute to a culture of safety, following unit policies (including fingernail/artificial nail standards) and infection control practices

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
• Strong telemetry/ECG interpretation experience and proven ability to titrate drips
• Comfortable with EPIC charting and acute care documentation
• Experience with ventilator troubleshooting and respiratory support modalities (CPAP/BiPAP/High Flow)
• Driver's license required at submittal (radius rule applies)
• Must not be currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI/Dignity)
• Successful completion of orientation requirements including a pass/fail skills exam (open-book; 90% required to pass)

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and adult ICU protocols
• Telemetry monitoring and ECG interpretation
• IV drip titration and vasoactive medication management
• Ventilator troubleshooting and respiratory support basics
• Trauma, cardiac, sepsis, stroke, renal failure, and pacemaker care familiarity
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and communication skills
