Night-focused coverage available (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM). Schedule includes every-other-weekend rotation and holiday rotation; may float to Marian ER as assigned.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a busy ER environment
• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care for medical, trauma, pediatric, and stroke patients
• Interpret cardiac monitors and 12-lead EKGs; complete a proctored EKG competency exam during orientation
• Coordinate with MDs, mid-level providers, RT, and ED techs to stabilize and transfer trauma patients as needed
• Manage ventilators and provide acute respiratory care in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Document care in Cerner and communicate clear handoffs during shift changes
• Maintain patient safety, assist with procedures within RN scope, and uphold unit policies

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the appropriate jurisdiction (required)
• Minimum 2 years of ER (Emergency Room) nursing experience (required)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• NIHSS and PALS required; NRP and TNCC preferred
• COVID vaccination required
• Comfortable reading and interpreting cardiac strips and providing ventilator care
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including every-other-weekend and holiday rotation

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing and triage skills
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR
• 12-lead EKG interpretation and basic cardiac monitor competency
• Ventilator management and collaboration with RT teams
• Ability to manage rapid patient turnover (average ~75 patients/day, sometimes up to 140)
• Comfort with trauma stabilization and transfer protocols
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and situational awareness in high-acuity settings
