Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, timely nursing care to emergency patients using sound clinical judgment
• Triage and assess patients rapidly to prioritize care in a fast-paced ED environment
• Administer medications, start IVs, and perform emergency procedures per scope and protocol
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and other team members to coordinate patient flow and disposition
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and professionally
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and next steps in a compassionate manner
• Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and unit-based problem solving

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — Hawaii RN license preferred or eligibility to obtain
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience in Emergency Department or Emergency Room nursing (new grads with strong emergency training considered)
• Strong critical thinking, triage, and rapid assessment skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with excellent teamwork and communication

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment skills
• Acute care nursing, IV initiation, medication administration
• Familiarity with ED workflows, triage systems, and emergency protocols
• Strong clinical documentation and electronic charting skills
• Calm decision-making under pressure and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Patient/family education and culturally sensitive care
