Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement individualized nursing care plans using the nursing process to optimize patient outcomes
• Assess patients rapidly and accurately, prioritize care, and make decisive clinical judgments in a fast-paced ED
• Perform triage, treatment, evaluation, and thorough documentation in accordance with facility guidelines
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to facilitate transfers, discharges, referrals, and holistic patient support
• Provide patient- and family-centered education tailored to age, culture, and health literacy
• Effectively delegate to ancillary staff and serve as a preceptor for student nurses and new hires when needed
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and risk-management procedures to maintain a safe environment

Qualifications

• Current and active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire)
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or ENPC (or obtained within 1 year of hire)
• Current TNCC, STABLE, and NRP certifications (or obtained within 1 year of hire)
• Minimum: successfully pass background check, pre-employment drug screen, and Employee Health meeting prior to starting
• Preferably two years hospital nursing experience and at least one year of ED or critical care experience
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States

Education

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred
• Associate degree acceptable if licensed as an RN (per state rules); current RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong command of the nursing process, patient assessment, triage, and care planning
• Emergency Department and trauma nursing skills, including rapid decision-making
• Excellent documentation practices and patient education abilities
• Proven delegation skills and experience with precepting
• Infection control, safety, and risk-management expertise
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement
• Effective verbal and written communication and ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting
