Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for patients across the lifespan, prioritizing safety and compassion
• Perform rapid triage and assessment to determine acuity and immediate needs
• Administer medications, treatments and interventions accurately and timely
• Collaborate with physicians, techs and interdisciplinary team members to develop and carry out care plans
• Monitor patient status and intervene for changes in condition; escalate when necessary
• Document care clearly and efficiently in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures and post-discharge care
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring colleagues and participating in quality improvement

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii or eligible to obtain state licensure
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Previous emergency/ED experience preferred; confidence in high-acuity settings
• Comfortable with rapid assessment, triage and critical thinking under pressure
• Ability to pass background check, immunization and health screening requirements
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing principles, triage and trauma assessment
• Medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with common ED procedures and diagnostics
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) documentation
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Patient- and family-centered communication and education
