Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in the fast-paced ED environment
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill and injured patients
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and emergency interventions safely
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform ongoing patient monitoring and document assessments clearly in the medical record
• Respond effectively to codes and rapid response situations with calm leadership
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up plans
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance ED processes and patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii or Compact RN licensure as applicable
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred or required depending on unit
• Previous emergency department (ED/ER) nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and emergency intervention skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with excellent communication

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in triage and rapid assessment of acute presentations
• Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration, and emergency procedures
• Comfortable with electronic health record (EHR) documentation and computerized charting
• Knowledge of emergency protocols, trauma care basics, and resuscitation principles
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-family education abilities
