Roles & Responsibilities

• Design and implement clinical training curricula tailored for long-term care nursing and CNA staff
• Partner with clinical leaders to standardize and streamline clinical competency programs across the consortium
• Deliver engaging education sessions using multiple modalities (in-person training, skills fairs, online tools)
• Support preceptorship coordination and mentor entry-level employees to ensure successful onboarding
• Evaluate and document competency assessments to meet policy and accreditation standards
• Collaborate on consortium-wide projects as a key member of the Clinical Nursing Education team
• Use evidence-based research to improve nursing professional development activities and patient outcomes
• Travel to outreach sites (approx. 30%) to provide hands-on education and support local teams

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing (required)
• Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Alaska license application required for direct hire prior to start)
• Minimum 5 years professional nursing experience with at least 2 years in long-term care
• At least 2 years clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be substituted with supervisory experience)
• BLS for providers (AHA) required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Clinical Competency Assessment completion required within 3 months of hire and maintained per policy

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

• Adult learning principles and curriculum development for healthcare staff
• Competency assessment and implementation aligned with accreditation and policy
• Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills across interdisciplinary teams
• Experience with training tools and platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
• Ability to create engaging in-person training, skills fairs, and preceptorship programs
• Knowledge of adult and geriatric patient care and long-term care best practices
• Policy compliance, documentation, and evaluation of educational activities
