Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare procedure rooms and equipment to ensure safe, efficient delivery of care for cardiovascular, EP, and interventional neurology procedures
• Review patient charts and verify documentation, labs, and consents prior to procedures
• Perform timely pre-procedural assessment and post-procedural monitoring and handoffs
• Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures by circulating and providing direct support
• Administer procedural sedation and monitor patients per unit and hospital policies
• Operate and document procedures in MacLab/CardioLab and the electronic clinical documentation system in real time
• Perform cardiac monitoring, blood work analyses, and use intra-cardiac ultrasound and 3D mapping systems as needed
• Promote safety and a therapeutic environment for patients and families and participate in time-out/Full Stop processes
• Precept and support new staff and participate in ongoing unit education and quality improvement activities

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
• ICU, CVICU, IMC or Cath Lab experience required; new grads and Med/Surg-only experience will not be considered
• Recommended: prior experience in a Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab
• Ability to independently circulate procedures, document in MacLab/CardioLab, and respond to on-call pager

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred or must obtain BSN within 36 months of hire

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and cardiac monitoring skills
• Experience with cardiac catheterization, EP studies, device implants, and structural heart procedures
• Proficiency with X-ray fluoroscopy and intra-cardiac ultrasound
• Familiarity with 3D mapping systems and procedural sedation
• Ability to prepare procedure rooms, obtain and record patient information, and maintain procedural logs
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to safety protocols, and effective communication for team-based care
