Location: Bakersfield, CA

Start Date: 06-12-2026

End Date: 09-11-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; occasional weekday 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM; one weekend every third weekend (with Monday and Friday off that week)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide expert physical therapy to acute inpatient populations including Medical/Surgical, ICU, and ER units
Treat a diverse caseload of patients recovering from general medical conditions, orthopedic surgeries (TKA, THA, spinal surgery), and strokes
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Document patient progress accurately and timely to ensure continuity of care
Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises and home safety strategies

Qualifications

Active California Physical Therapy License required
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Minimum 1-2 years of acute inpatient physical therapy experience preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with patients and staff
Ability to manage a caseload of 12+ patients per day with efficiency and compassion

Knowledge & Skills

Strong clinical reasoning in acute care settings including ICU and ER
Knowledge of orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation protocols
Proficiency in electronic medical records and documentation
Team collaboration and adaptability in a fast-paced hospital environment
Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement
