Roles & Responsibilities

• Verify and accurately dispense prescriptions while ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance
• Counsel patients and caregivers on proper medication use, side effects, and adherence strategies
• Provide emergency coverage support and triage medication needs during your shift
• Collaborate with prescribers, nurses, and the care team to optimize medication therapy
• Maintain accurate medication records, documentation, and controlled substance logs
• Manage inventory and ensure medications are stored and labeled correctly
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute pharmacy expertise to facility goals

Qualifications

• Active pharmacist licensure in Texas or ability to obtain state licensure promptly
• Current Pharmacy degree (PharmD preferred) or equivalent pharmacy degree
• Experience working as a pharmacist in an acute or ambulatory care setting is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety during fast-paced coverage
• Licenses/certifications per facility requirements (immunization certification, BLS, or others as requested)

Education

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred; BS in Pharmacy considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medication safety principles and dispensing best practices
• Familiarity with electronic health records and pharmacy dispensing systems
• Excellent communication skills for patient counseling and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to work independently during coverage periods and make sound clinical judgments
• Comfort handling controlled substances and maintaining strict documentation standards
