Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy services across the lifespan using evidence-based practice
• Perform home visits and village travel to bring care directly to patients in their communities
• Design and implement therapeutic exercise and ADL training plans tailored to patient-specific and age-specific needs
• Collaborate closely with medical providers and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Document patient care and medical correspondence thoroughly and professionally
• Use therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation) and adapt treatment plans as needed
• Support care in the local Long Term Care facility when required and participate in periodic self-assessment

Qualifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist in Alaska or holding a good-standing license in another state while awaiting Alaska licensure
• Current NBCOT certification required
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (per position requirements)
• Minimum clinical experience: none required but clinical experience is preferred
• Ability to pass national and criminal background checks, 10-panel drug screen (within last 90 days), OIG/OFAC/SAM and sex offender registry checks as part of onboarding
• Up-to-date immunizations or titers for Hep A, Hep B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Tdap, and Polio
• Willingness to travel to villages, perform home visits, and live in shared housing arrangements
• Cultural competency and strong communication skills for working with diverse, often non-English-speaking communities

Education

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program

Knowledge & Skills

• Evidence-based practice and ability to interpret OT and medical literature
• Strong patient documentation and medical correspondence skills
• ADL training and therapeutic exercise prescription
• Experience with outpatient and inpatient OT settings
• Familiarity with ultrasound and electrical stimulation modalities
• Comfort conducting home visits and village travel
• Long Term Care exposure and ability to adapt care across settings
• Excellent interdisciplinary collaboration and cross-cultural communication
