Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to neonates in the NICU, monitoring vital signs and responding quickly to changes
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization following NRP protocols when required
• Administer medications and therapies safely, following Prime Basic Pharmacology guidelines and facility policies
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and act on abnormalities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Document assessments, interventions, and family communications clearly and thoroughly in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based competencies, skills checks, and specialty exams to maintain credentialing and high standards
• Collaborate with families to provide compassionate, family-centered care and education during a stressful time
• Support unit flow by assisting with admissions, transfers, and timely handoffs on night shift

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state required) and eligibility for Nursys verification
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NRP certification required
• DCI/BVP certification listed as required in the checklist
• Recent acute in-hospital NICU or critical care experience preferred
• Proven experience working 12-hour night shifts in an ICU or NICU setting
• Willingness to complete Prime Basic Pharmacology exam, rhythm interpretation screening, core competencies, skills checklist, and specialty exam
• Ability to meet facility health requirements (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB, Hep B, influenza, varicella, Tdap) and pass required drug screening and fit testing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neonatal ICU clinical skills and comfort with critical care nursing principles
• Neonatal resuscitation and stabilization (NRP) knowledge
• Rhythm interpretation and basic dysrhythmia recognition
• Medication calculation and administration safety (Prime Basic Pharmacology familiarity)
• Skilled at bedside assessment, monitoring, and using unit telemetry/monitoring equipment
• Clear, compassionate communication with families and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to maintain competency through required exams and skills checks
