Roles & Responsibilities

Lead the surgical services team by setting clear expectations, mentoring staff, and fostering a culture of safety and respect.
Oversee circulating RN duties and coordinate perioperative workflows to ensure efficient, patient-centered surgical care.
Supervise daily operations, delegate tasks appropriately, and maintain high standards of clinical practice and compliance.
Identify operational problems in the surgical department, develop practical short-term fixes, and implement long-term process improvements.
Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies, guiding the team through critical events while maintaining composure.
Collaborate with physicians, ancillary departments, and peers to ensure smooth patient transitions and optimal outcomes.
Ensure adherence to licensing and certification requirements and support staff professional development.

Qualifications

Current California RN license required
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
Minimum of 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery
Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
CNOR preferred
One year of post-anesthesia care experience preferred
Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
Strong written and oral English skills required

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Surgical services management and perioperative workflows
Circulating RN responsibilities in the operating room
Team supervision, delegation, and staff development
Emergency response and maintaining composure under pressure
Problem identification, root-cause thinking, and implementing solutions
Patient care best practices and post-anesthesia considerations
Clear verbal and written communication with clinical teams and patients
