Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead infection prevention efforts across the community hospital with a focus on the operating room and sterile processing
• Assess, monitor, and report infection surveillance data to drive safety improvements
• Collaborate with surgical teams, sterile processing, and frontline staff to implement best practices
• Develop, review, and educate staff on infection control policies and procedures
• Conduct rounds, audits, and immediate corrective actions to reduce risk and transmission
• Support outbreak investigations and support timely communication to stakeholders
• Mentor and coach clinical staff to sustain infection prevention practices

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state of Hawaii) required
• Proven experience in Infection Control within a community hospital setting
• Hands-on experience with Operating Room and Sterile Processing infection prevention
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; CIC (Certification in Infection Control) preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and collaborative skills
• Comfortable with surveillance tools, audits, and data-driven improvement initiatives

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of infection prevention principles and regulatory requirements
• Familiarity with operating room workflows and sterile processing standards
• Infection surveillance, data analysis, and reporting skills
• Ability to teach and influence clinical staff across disciplines
• Strong documentation, auditing, and policy development skills
