Roles & Responsibilities

Audit medical records to validate CPT and ICD-10 coding and ensure clinical documentation supports code selection
Compile clear audit reports with analysis and trends to drive documentation and coding improvements
Regularly communicate findings to providers—offer constructive feedback and education to improve documentation accuracy
Design and implement tools and education in collaboration with the Revenue Cycle Manager to support physician documentation
Train new revenue cycle team members on coding and documentation guidelines and maintain audit logs
Perform coding tasks as needed and assist the Assistant Revenue Cycle Manager with evaluations and performance reviews
Ensure productivity targets for record audits are met and maintain compliance with reporting/documentation requirements
Support BHMG coding and billing staff with coding guidance and provider-facing education

Qualifications

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
Minimum five (5) years of inpatient and outpatient coding and auditing experience
Professional physician coding experience in an office-based setting
Experience auditing medical records and providing provider education/feedback
Comfortable working fully onsite in Dover, DE

Education

Associate Degree in a related field (required)
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Deep knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
Medical record auditing and documentation improvement
Provider education and clear clinical communication
Familiarity with physician and midlevel provider coding practices
Understanding of revenue cycle impacts and coding compliance
Ability to compile audit findings and produce actionable reports
