Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support and mentorship to new employees, experienced staff, and students to elevate patient care standards
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation and ongoing continuing education activities for the department
• Serve as a clinical practice resource for complex patient care, medication administration, and treatment planning
• Analyze patient data to identify practice gaps and develop targeted interventions to improve outcomes
• Act as a liaison between nursing staff and leadership, communicating concerns and feedback clearly and constructively
• Facilitate implementation of new clinical practices, protocols, and equipment with hands-on staff training
• Perform quality control audits and report regulatory or care-quality concerns to leadership

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure for the State of Alaska
• Nursing degree required; BSN preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association)
• Clinical Competency Assessment (SEARHC) and High Risk Competency (SEARHC) required
• Minimum of 5 years of acute care RN experience preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills with ability to work collaboratively
• Comfortable with varied schedules including weekends and holidays

Education

• Nursing degree required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Sound knowledge of clinical practice standards, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement
• Skilled in comprehensive patient assessments and safe medication administration
• Experience managing acutely ill patients and using relevant medical equipment
• Familiarity with electronic health records and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to teach, mentor, and develop clinical staff using a variety of educational methods
• Critical thinking and strong interpersonal/communication strategies
