Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-appropriate personal care to residents with compassion and respect
• Take and record vital signs and measure output accurately to support care plans
• Observe, document, and report changes in physical or mental condition to the nursing team
• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
• Implement restorative care techniques such as range-of-motion exercises and use of assistive devices
• Follow infection control, universal precautions, and body mechanics to keep residents and staff safe
• Collaborate with the treatment team to support individualized care goals and treatment plans

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credential required
• Minimum six months experience in a long-term care (LTC) facility
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers to be obtained within six months of employment
• Basic nursing skills including taking vital signs and recognizing abnormal signs
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand simple sentences in English
• Demonstrated patience, tact, and ability to work with challenging behaviors
• Previous work experience in Hawaii is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Direct patient care and age-specific patient assessment
• Infection control, universal precautions, and first aid
• Patient hygiene, bodily care, and restorative care techniques
• Observation, documentation, and accurate reporting
• Basic medical and nursing terminology
• Good oral and written communication and teamwork skills
• Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse populations
