Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans
- Lead interview-based evaluations and perform focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Prepare clear, timely medical reports and required addendums to document findings
- Provide objective medical opinions and read diagnostic information as needed
- Coordinate scheduling and documentation through VES systems and complete required administrative follow-up
- Adhere to a non-treatment exam-only scope of practice (no prescribing or ongoing care)
- Participate in credentialing and onboarding to meet VES compliance and quality standards
Qualifications
- Physician (MD or DO) — specialties accepted: family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine experience
- Experience or familiarity with Compensation & Pension exams is strongly preferred
- Ability to perform interview-based and focused physical assessments (range of motion and muscle strength testing)
- Must be able to meet location requirements (within 50-mile radius of assigned city) or have a private office if serving as a provider-owned-office option
- Willingness to complete VES credentialing, onboarding and required training
- Strong medical documentation and report-writing skills
Education
- Medical degree (MD or DO)
- Active state medical license as required for practice
- Board certification in specialty preferred where applicable
Knowledge & Skills
- Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam procedures and separation health assessment workflows
- Interview-based clinical assessment techniques
- Range of motion testing and muscle strength assessment
- Clear, concise medical report writing and addendum preparation
- Ability to interpret diagnostic reports and form objective medical opinions
- Comfort with office-based practice logistics and documentation systems
