Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility) with respect and dignity
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and resident interactions
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility procedures consistently
- Provide compassionate emotional support and companionship to residents
- Collaborate with the care team to help implement individualized care plans
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — you are the heart of hands-on resident care
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility
- Comfortable working with older adults and people with varying care needs
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Dependable, professional, and able to communicate effectively with residents and team members
Education
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
- Reliable documentation and charting habits
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide compassionate care
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
