Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility and transfers while promoting dignity
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and timely in the facility charting system
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive their dietary needs
- Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent (required)
- Current state registration or listing as applicable for Geriatric Nursing Assistants
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long term care, rehab, or geriatric settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a warm, patient-centered approach
- Ability to follow care plans and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed GNA training program or equivalent certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living and geriatric care principles
- Basic clinical skills including vital sign collection and resident observation
- Familiarity with safety and infection control best practices
- Good documentation and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families and staff
