Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals with psychiatric needs within a correctional facility
• Perform behavioral observations and accurate, timely documentation that directly impacts patient safety and treatment planning
• Use de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention skills to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
• Assist clinical team members with therapeutic activities, movement, and daily living needs to support recovery and stability
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary staff, participating in team meetings and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Follow facility policies and safety protocols, contributing to a culture of security and professional standards

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license in California required
• Newly licensed clinicians are welcome; position includes a two-week training period
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required or must obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass background checks and meet correctional facility clearance requirements
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and experience or training in behavioral health preferred
• Willingness to work scheduled evenings and weekends as listed

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent plus completion of an approved LPT program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of psychiatric care principles and behavioral health interventions
• Skillful use of de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques
• Accurate clinical documentation and observation skills
• Ability to follow treatment plans and safely assist with ADLs
• Effective communication and teamwork within a multidisciplinary setting
• Familiarity with correctional facility safety protocols is a plus
