Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert First Assist support in the operating room, improving surgical flow and patient outcomes
• Advocate for patients while functioning as the circulator and a resource for the sterile field
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field, instruments, and equipment for a variety of procedures
• Assist surgeons during complex cases including total joints, multi-level spine fusions, and Xi robotic procedures
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety, proper documentation, and smooth turnover
• Participate in call rotations and support weekend coverage when scheduled

Qualifications

• Current CST and CSTFA certification through NBSTSA (required)
• BLS and ACLS certification (required)
• Experience working as a circulator and scrub in an OR setting (preferred)
• Vein harvesting experience is a plus
• Comfort with a variety of procedures including orthopedic, spine, and robotic-assisted cases
• Positive, team-oriented attitude and strong communication skills

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current CST credential and First Assist (CSTFA) through NBSTSA
• BLS and ACLS certifications

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of sterile technique and OR instrumentation
• Patient advocacy skills while serving as circulator
• Ability to assist in complex orthopedic and spine procedures
• Familiarity with robotic-assisted cases (Xi) and associated workflows
• Experience with Epic EMR for documentation
• Adaptability across day and weekend call schedules
