Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and manage critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU, delivering high-quality, family-centered care
• Provide ventilator management and advanced hemodynamic/ICP monitoring to stabilize and optimize patient status
• Perform and manage procedures including central line dressing changes, IV starts, catheter care, trach care, and tube feeding/placement
• Monitor and interpret complex data streams and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to adjust treatment plans
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner to ensure continuity and safety
• Support and mentor team members while floating between PICU, Peds and NICU units as needed
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with families, keeping them informed and involved in care decisions
• Participate in unit-specific policies and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in North Carolina)
• PALS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year PICU experience (posting references experience and PICU-specific experience requirement)
• Proven ability with ventilator management and critical care monitoring
• Comfortable using Cerner and Alaris infusion pumps
• Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and clear communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric critical care principles and PICU patient ratios (1:1–1:2)
• Ventilator management and respiratory support for pediatric patients
• Hemodynamic and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
• Central line care, IV starts, catheter management, and trach care
• Tube feeding placement and management
• Familiarity with Cerner documentation system and Alaris pumps
• Ability to float to Pediatrics and NICU with adaptable clinical skills
