Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance with Option A (single facility per week) or Option B (Just-In-Time assignment 1-2 hours before shift); weekend requirement: 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse PCU/IMC patient population including cardiac, neuro, oncology, ortho, renal, and more
• Float across multiple facilities within Zone 1 (Colorado Springs area) to ensure optimal staffing coverage
• Titrate and manage cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, and heparin with confidence
• Collaborate with charge nurses and interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively across shifts
• Adapt quickly to different unit environments and patient acuities

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Colorado or compact state (NLC)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/IMC experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with cardiac drips, insulin titration, and ativan management
• Comfortable floating to various acuity levels including ICU holds and MS-Tele as needed
• EPIC experience preferred; neuro experience a plus
• Willingness to work within a 60-mile floating zone and accommodate flexible scheduling

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in PCU/IMC nursing skills including monitoring, assessment, and intervention
• Knowledge of titratable drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, cardizem, amio, heparin, and insulin
• Ability to manage a 1:3-4 nurse-to-patient ratio depending on acuity
• Strong communication and adaptability for floating between units and facilities
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)
• Understanding of acute care for adult and geriatric populations
