Roles & Responsibilities

• Partner with clinical leaders to design and implement standardized clinical competencies that support policy and accreditation standards
• Deliver engaging clinical education and hands-on training for nursing and CNA staff across Sitka and Wrangell
• Develop, select, and implement curriculum and training programs tailored to adult and geriatric learners
• Support and coordinate effective preceptorships and student clinical experiences with local universities
• Evaluate and document competency completion and ensure compliance with organizational standards
• Use evidence-based research to continually improve professional development activities and patient outcomes
• Serve as a collaborative member of the clinical education team and support broader departmental projects
• Act as a liaison for other clinical education opportunities and promote SEARHC’s standards of excellence

Qualifications

• BSN — graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for an Alaska license before start date)
• Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
• Minimum 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be replaced with supervisory experience)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred — or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
• Clinical competency certification required within 3 months of hire and ongoing per policy

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) — required; graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of professional nursing principles and long-term care practices
• Specialized expertise in adult and geriatric patient care and common LTC conditions
• Skillful at developing and evaluating standards of care and evidence-based training modalities
• Experience designing curriculum and delivering adult learning using multiple modalities
• Proficient with tools and platforms such as TEAMS, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort leading trainings and skills fairs
• Ability to create a positive learning environment that reinforces best practices and patient-centered care
• Strong collaboration and leadership skills to partner with clinical teams and stakeholders
