Roles & Responsibilities

• Initiate and manage life support ventilation systems for critically ill patients
• Perform emergency intubations and arterial punctures with precision and care
• Lead cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts as part of the resuscitation team
• Assess and evaluate patients with respiratory disorders to recommend personalized treatment plans
• Administer age-specific respiratory treatments while educating patients and families
• Conduct pulmonary function testing and pulse oximetry monitoring
• Provide cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and patient education on disease management
• Perform EEGs and polysomnography studies to support clinical decisions
• Maintain equipment, ensure safety protocols, and keep detailed patient records

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care
• Current Hawaii Respiratory Therapy license required
• BLS/BCLS certification required
• Minimum 5 years of experience in respiratory therapy
• Experience with ventilator management, life support systems, and critical care patients including pediatric and neonatal cases

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in ventilator management and life support systems
• Strong clinical judgment for independent respiratory care decisions
• Proficiency in arterial blood gas analysis and ventilator adjustments
• Knowledge of pulmonary function testing and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
• Ability to perform EEGs and polysomnography studies
• Excellent communication skills for patient and family education
• Commitment to safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards
