Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by physicians across specialty areas including emergency, neonatal, pediatric, geriatric, and critical care
• Monitor and manage mechanical ventilation, including interpretation of flow volumes and pressure volume curves to make clinical changes
• Perform effective airway management including bag/mask ventilation, suctioning, and assisting with intubation
• Conduct arterial blood gas draws and interpret results to guide treatment
• Deliver medications via respiratory therapy and ensure accurate documentation of all procedures
• Educate and train patients, families, and new staff on respiratory care techniques and equipment

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience in a hospital setting
• Must be a graduate of a COARC-approved Respiratory Care Program
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the NBRC required
• BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire
• NRP certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Active state license (Colorado) required

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Graduate of a COARC-approved Respiratory Care Program

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in mechanical ventilation, airway management, and patient assessment
• Strong understanding of cardiopulmonary equipment and hemodynamic monitoring
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to assess patients across all age groups and adapt care accordingly
• Knowledge of infection control and patient confidentiality standards
