Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform timely triage and full nursing assessments for patients of all ages to prioritize care
• Provide telephone triage and offer appropriate self-care advice or escalation when needed
• Administer medications safely, including oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal, IV push, and infusions
• Establish and manage IV therapy, including insertion, monitoring, and discontinuation
• Document assessments, interventions, education, and outcomes accurately in the EMR
• Coordinate patient referrals and follow up on outstanding care to ensure continuity
• Maintain infection control practices and a clean, safe clinical environment
• Manage stock and supplies so the clinic runs smoothly and safely
• Serve as a vaccine coordinator when assigned and support immunization efforts
• Participate in emergency response, team improvement efforts, and clinical training activities

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX
• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state required
• Direct hire candidates must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before the start date; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Clinical Competency and High Risk Competency to be completed within required timelines (Clinical Competency within 3 months and every three years; High Risk within 3 months and annually)
• Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ambulatory or urgent care setting
• High school diploma or equivalent

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (eligible to sit for NCLEX)
• High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of the nursing process and strong critical thinking skills
• Experience with triage, assessment, and prioritization in fast-paced settings
• Familiarity with clinic protocols, infection control, and safety practices
• Comfort using various medical equipment and EMR systems, with accurate charting
• Excellent oral and written communication and patient education skills
• Strong multi-tasking, time management, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to remain calm and professional in urgent or emergent situations
• Customer service mindset with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
