Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess and monitor patients continuously, responding quickly to changes in condition
• Administer medications and advanced therapies accurately and safely
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute care plans
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with families, keeping them informed and supported
• Participate actively in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Document patient care and interventions thoroughly in the electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in California (or compact RN with CA authorization where applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification strongly preferred or required
• Previous PICU or pediatric critical care experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills, ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills; patient- and family-centered mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and standards
• Familiarity with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and vasoactive medication administration
• Competence with central line care, IV medication titration, and advanced pediatric assessments
• Comfortable using electronic medical record systems and documenting care accurately
• Ability to work effectively in high-acuity situations and participate in rapid response or codes
