Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, family-centered critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess patient condition continuously and intervene promptly to stabilize and improve outcomes
• Administer medications and manage complex therapies according to evidence-based protocols
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—physicians, respiratory therapists, and specialists—to create and follow individualized care plans
• Educate families and caregivers about patient condition, care plans, and safe discharge practices
• Document patient status, interventions, and responses accurately and timely in the medical record
• Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of safety

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Massachusetts required
• Experience caring for pediatric critical care patients (PICU experience preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) strongly preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to manage complex pediatric cases
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Comfort with electronic medical records and accurate documentation practices

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred where available
• Additional specialty training or certifications in pediatric critical care are a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep understanding of pediatric critical care principles and PICU workflows
• Skilled in ventilator management, vasoactive medication administration, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Proficient in patient assessment, triage, and rapid response procedures
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and time management
• Compassionate family-centered communication and education skills
