Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Prepare operating room and sterile instruments to support surgical teams
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure smooth procedures
• Monitor patient status throughout the surgical experience and respond to changes promptly
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control and sterile technique standards
• Document patient care accurately and communicate critical information during handoffs
• Assist in positioning, prepping, and transporting patients as needed for surgery

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state requirements apply) — travel-ready candidates preferred
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (as listed in the job data)
• Operating Room (OR) experience or specialty experience demonstrated in perioperative nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional perioperative certifications (e.g., CNOR) are a plus
• Ability to complete a 13-week travel assignment and adapt quickly to new teams and systems

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred but not always required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing practices and sterile technique
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and OR workflows
• Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills during perioperative phases
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced surgical environment
