Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill newborns and premature infants in a Level 4 NICU
• Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and manage complex medical equipment
• Collaborate with neonatologists, nurse practitioners, and a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal patient outcomes
• Educate and support families during emotionally challenging times, empowering them to care for their baby
• Maintain strict sterile field during procedures like central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertions
• Document patient progress accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate effectively during shift handoffs

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of NICU experience with at least 2 years in a Level 4 NICU
• Current RN license in Arizona or compact state; BLS and NRP certifications required
• Cardiac STABLE certification preferred; proficiency with Cerner EMR
• Previous travel nursing experience is a plus
• Able to pass SIMs lab on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strong sterile technique
• Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to the tiniest patients and their families

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in caring for premature infants, cardiac defects, genetic disorders, surgical neonates, ECMO, and cooling therapy
• Proficient in Cerner EMR and telemetry monitoring (Phillips)
• Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection control
• Excellent communication skills for family education and team collaboration
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, 71-bed Level 4 unit with a 1:2 ICU ratio
