Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to a mix of oncology and trauma patients in a fast-paced PCU/MedSurg environment
• Administer chemotherapy and other complex medications, including titratable drips such as insulin and cardizem
• Monitor hemodynamic status using advanced equipment (CVP, Aline, Swan, EV-1000) and ventilator management
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including PT/OT, case managers, social workers, and dieticians to ensure holistic care
• Perform hourly rounding to enhance patient safety and satisfaction, addressing any concerns promptly
• Float to MedSurg and other PCU units as needed to support team needs

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of recent PCU/Oncology nursing experience required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Active RN license in Nebraska or a compact state; driver's license required for verification of radius rule
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
• ONS/ONCC certification required; chemotherapy certification strongly preferred
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred; willingness to learn onsite
• Must pass an open-book skills exam (90% or higher) during orientation to continue the assignment
• No artificial nails allowed in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in managing ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, Aline, Swan, EV-1000)
• Strong ability to titrate drips such as heparin, cardizem, and chemotherapy agents
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to thrive in a collaborative culture
• Adaptability to float between PCU and MedSurg levels of care
• Compassion and cultural sensitivity to care for diverse patient populations
