Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Med/Surg patients with attention to safety and dignity
- Perform thorough patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document care in the patient record
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, discharge plans and self-care needs
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
- Experience or strong interest in Medical-Surgical nursing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required; advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS) encouraged
- Comfort working 12.5-hour clinical shifts and delivering high-quality bedside care
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid patient assessment and clinical judgment skills
- Medication administration and IV therapy competence
- Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
- Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
