Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based medical-surgical nursing care to assigned patients
Assess patient status frequently and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary care team
Administer medications and treatments accurately and according to policy
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to implement individualized care plans
Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain licensure in Louisiana
Experience or strong interest in medical-surgical nursing
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willing to obtain
Clear communication skills and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
Ability to manage time effectively during 12.5-hour clinical shifts

Education

Nursing degree (ADN or BSN) or equivalent nursing education

Knowledge & Skills

Solid patient assessment and clinical judgment skills
Medication administration and IV management knowledge
Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced med-surg environment
