Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document findings in the chart
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and escalate concerns in a timely manner
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and safe discharge plans
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to unit policies and standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii or ability to obtain licensure prior to start
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or available through employer
• Clinical experience in Med/Surg nursing preferred; new grads with strong Med/Surg clinical skills are welcome to apply
• Ability to safely perform 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to rotating schedules
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid assessment skills and familiarity with Med/Surg disease processes
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Proficient with electronic health record documentation
• Basic wound care and post-op care knowledge
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and remain calm under pressure
• Cultural sensitivity and patient-centered communication suited to Honolulu's diverse population
