Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a medical-surgical unit
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing interventions
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Document patient care clearly and thoroughly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning
• Support a positive unit culture by mentoring colleagues and participating in quality improvement

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS or specialty certifications encouraged
• Strong assessment, clinical judgment and prioritization skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Professional communication skills and commitment to patient safety

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing practices and standards
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and clear documentation
• Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize tasks efficiently
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Comfortable collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and families
