Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Labor & Delivery patients and newborns
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret tracings to support safe births
• Lead patient care as Charge Nurse when assigned, coordinating staff and resources
• Assist and care for newborns during C-sections with RT and anesthesia collaboration
• Manage patient assignments across 3 L&D rooms and float to MedSurg when census requires
• Document care accurately in Cerner and ensure timely communication with the care team
• Respond to emergent neonatal needs including NRP interventions and stabilization
• Support discharge planning and coordinate transfers for neonates under 36 weeks as needed

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to submit in CA)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (Labor & Delivery preferred)
• BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), ACLS required
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certification required
• COVID vaccine required (per job posting)
• Prior experience with Cerner or similar EMR preferred
• Comfort functioning as Charge Nurse and floating to MedSurg when needed
• Ability to work independently in a small-unit setting and coordinate transfers

Education

• Valid RN licensure; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced fetal monitoring and intrapartum surveillance
• Neonatal resuscitation and newborn stabilization
• Labor support and active participation in C-section perioperative newborn care
• Strong clinical judgment in 1:1 to 1:4 patient ratio situations
• Proficiency with Cerner charting and acute care documentation
• Collaborative communication with RT, anesthesia, pharmacy, and transport teams
• Ability to triage and arrange transfers for high-risk neonates
• Flexibility to float and perform MedSurg tasking when unit census dictates
