Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in a 33-bed ICU with an average daily census of 16
• Manage common diagnoses including trauma, cardiac conditions, sepsis, stroke, respiratory distress, and post-surgical cases
• Titrate cardiac drips, insulin, sedation, and other titratable medications as ordered
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, document strips, and communicate findings with the healthcare team
• Float to PCU and MedSurg units as needed, maintaining appropriate patient ratios (1:4 or 1:5)
• Collaborate with respiratory therapists for ventilator management from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
• Participate in orientation and pass an open-book exam with a 90% score during the first week

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska or compact state
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet 50-mile radius rule from facility
• Prior ICU experience preferred; ability to titrate drips and interpret telemetry
• Willingness to adhere to facility policies including no artificial nails in patient care areas
• Ability to pass an open-book orientation exam with 90% or higher

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in titrating cardiac drips and managing ventilated patients
• Strong knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with patient populations including trauma, stroke, sepsis, and post-procedure care
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to floating assignments
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
