Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult ICU patients with conditions such as trauma, cardiac issues, stroke, sepsis, and respiratory distress
• Titrate and manage critical drips including cardiac, insulin, and sedation medications
• Interpret and document telemetry strips under GE monitor system
• Collaborate with healthcare support techs and RT to manage ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Float to PCU or MedSurg as needed, maintaining appropriate patient ratios (1:4 or 1:5)
• Participate in unit orientation and pass open-book skills exam during first week

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience preferred
• Valid driver's license (used to verify 50-mile radius compliance)
• Must not be employed by any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility in any capacity

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in critical care drips (cardiac, sedation, insulin) and titration
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
• Comfort with ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen devices
• Strong assessment and rapid decision-making for trauma and medical emergencies
• Excellent communication for interdisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to adapt to changing patient assignments and floating requirements
