Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care to diverse patient populations with confidence and compassion
• Perform rapid triage, ongoing assessment, and reassessment to prioritize care in a fast-paced ED environment
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per protocols and provider orders
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Document clinical findings, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
• Provide clear patient and family education during stressful situations to support understanding and recovery
• Lead or assist in emergency procedures and crisis interventions as needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact/state authorization to practice
• Minimum ED/ER clinical experience preferred (new grads with strong ER training may be considered)
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS strongly preferred or willing to obtain
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high-acuity, fast-paced emergency settings
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to maintain composure, prioritize tasks, and advocate for patient needs under pressure

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Completion of accredited nursing program and active RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in emergency nursing assessment and triage principles
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, wound care, and basic emergency procedures
• Familiarity with ED documentation systems and electronic health records
• Ability to interpret vital signs, EKGs, and basic lab results to support care decisions
• Team-oriented approach with strong situational awareness and clinical judgment
• Excellent communication skills for patient, family, and interdisciplinary collaboration
